Final Jeopardy: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Speeches (3-6-15)
The Final Jeopardy question (3/6/2015), in the category “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Speeches” was:
Springsteen said David Sancious was “the only member of the group who ever actually lived” there.
2x champ Laura Lorson has won $33,400 thus far. In her third game, she takes on these two players: Rachael Sims, from Sullivan, IL; and Nic Pereira, from Guerneville, CA.
Round 1: Rachael found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “Where Am I” under the $800 clue. She was in the lead with $3,400, $1,800 ahead of Nic in second place. She bet $1,000 but did not know so she was WRONG.
With Jerusalem spread out behind me, I’m high up on this which is named for an important crop of the region. show
Rachael finished in the lead with $7,000. Laura was second with $3,000 and Nic was last with $2,800.
Round 2: Rachael found the first Daily Double in “John Law” under the $2,000 clue. She was in the lead with $9,000, $3,200 more than Laura in second place. She bet $2,500 and she was RIGHT.
In his dissent to this infamous 1896 decision, John Marshall Harlan wrote that “Our Constitution is color-blind”. show
A few clues later, Rachael found the last Daily Double in “Now That’s a Sad Story” under the $800 clue. In the lead with $11,900, she had double Laura’s score in second place. She bet $2,000 and she was RIGHT.
From page 1 of this Fred Gipson novel: “When I had to kill him, it was like having to shoot some of my own folks.” show
Rachael finished in the lead with $19,500. Laura was next with $13,800 and Nic was in third place with $10,000.
Only ONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
“E Street runs north east through the New Jersey shore town of Belmar. According to Springsteen lore, the band took its name from the street because original keyboard player David Sancious’ mother lived there and allowed the band to rehearse in her house. The titular avenue of “Tenth Avenue Freeze Out” is also in Belmar.” (Mental Floss: Is There Really an E Street?)
Nic wrote down Chicago. That cost him $3,000 bet and brought him down to $7,000.
Laura thought it was Asbury Park. She lost her $6,600 bet and finished with $7,200.
Rachael got it right and bet $2,000 so she won the game with $21,500. Congrats to Rachael. Well played!
During the chat, Rachael talked about winning the pink Ford Thunderbird driven by Halle Berry in the movie “Die Another Day” by entering an email sweepstakes on her 18th birthday. That was some beginner’s luck right there, Rachael! She still has the car.
2 years ago:: NONE of the players got this FJ in “British Novels”
Fittingly, this Thomas Hardy character is introduced near the Pure Drop Inn. show

Congrats to Rachel! Nobody’s FJ bet today made any sense, but it was a good game overall.
@VJ, I loved the 2008 clue you posted on cotD: “On March 10, 2003 this nation got control of the .af Internet domain” Hilarious!
what a weird week! i thought this would be a clean sweep, but given recent experiences made me go to TWO. but that only ONE would get it? j gave the answer practically away.
obviously nic and laura never heard of bruce and the e street band which was lucky for rachael, since she bet only 2.000 ??? if someone could explain that bet to me please? and nic’s 3K bet?? even laura’s bet made no sense.
looks like nobody was comfortable with the fj category (again). but we are 6/15 for the week, still an improvement.
I love Jeopardy! but will not watch it as long as Rachael talks as fast as she does. She was very annoying and could not understand her. I wish her luck.
Just because you couldn’t understand her doesn’t mean she’s annoying. That’s a rude thing to say. She played a great game!
