The fifth king & the eighth king of this name share the distinction of both having been proclaimed king but never crowned.
New champ Ryan Alley defeated 2 co-champs yesterday and won $19,600. Today he takes on these two players: Allison Solomon, originally from Brooksville, FL; and Eileen Dreyer, from St. Louis, MO.
Round 1: Eileen found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “Fishy Words” before the first break under the $800 clue. She was in second place with $1,000, $1,400 less than Ryan’s lead. She risked it all and said “jackknife.” That was judged WRONG.

After the first break, Eileen was given back $2K when the judges found a jackknife fish.
Ryan finished in the lead with $3,400. Eileen was second with $2,800 and Allison was last with $1,600.
Round 2: Allison found the first Daily Double in “Birth of a Vice-President” under the $2,000 clue. She was in second place with $5,200, $4,200 less than Ryan’s lead. She bet $1,800 and she was RIGHT.

Allison then picked the $2,000 clue in “Capitonyms” and that was the last Daily Double. She was still in second place but now had $7,000, only $2,400 less than Ryan. She bet $1,600 and she was RIGHT, after remembering to put it in the form of a question.

Allison finished in the lead with $12,600. Ryan was next with $10,200 and Eileen was in third place with $6,400.

Edward V (House of York) ascended to the throne at age 12 on 4/9/1483. Before he could be crowned, he was deposed by his uncle, who took over as Richard III. Declared illegitimate, Edward and his brother Richard were whisked off to the Tower of London, eventually presumed murdered. Bones believed to belong to the princes were discovered in 1674 by workers in the Tower. King Charles II ordered them to be placed in Westminster Abbey in an urn bearing their names. It has never been proven that the princes were murdered or the bones in the urn actually belonged to them.
Eileen bet $6,200 and finished with $12,600.
Ryan bet $10,000 and finished with $20,200.
Allison bet $7,600 so she finished in a tie with Ryan for $20,200. Co-champs twice in the same week! Ryan has a 2-day total of $39,800.
Not counting this one as an intentional bet-to-tie because the leader evidently was not concerned that second place might bet it all. If he had, she would have gone home.

very interesting final. I’ve watched jeopardy for many years and have never seen anything like it. What are the odds of this happening???? It would not, could not happen if they weren’t in it together. Good for them.
I thought it was widely known that Reading (the city) is pronounced Red-ing.
??? she pronounced both words correctly.

but Alex incorrectly “corrected” her. He has done this before, such as with his misplaced accents on SImon Bolivar.
I think Allison stumbled into a tie.
both bets were highly irregular, to put it politely. but like fate would have it, they made the SAME mistake (in terms of the amount wagered)and wound both up winning anyway. what are the chances that both would wager the exact 200 less than they should have (or in allison’s case 201 if she wanted to win it all by herself.
this calls for a congressional investigation….:):)
what are the chances that she would get two DDs in a row and bet less than the face amount of each clue both times. If she had at least bet $2K on each clue, she would have had a higher finish. I know she said that she was going to bet $1,600 again on the second one, but she bet $1,800 on the first one.
are the numbers correct? WEIRD bets. had ryan bet it all= 20.400, allison would have lost. had allison bet the expected 7.801 = 20.401!! both were short by 200 in their bets (allison 200 for a tie of 20.400 or 201 for a win by a buck, 20.401). what are the chances that BOTH make the SAME MISTAKE and up in a tie anyway???? not the must-bet by ryan and he lucked out, a rather dumb bet by allison and she lucked out as well.could have won though all by herself. so 2 ties and 2 runaways so far this week.
and i was right with my hunch that all 3 would get it (probably because of edward VIII and by chance the other #5, edward V was a lucky bonus) i have not seen the show yet, but i am pretty sure that none of the three had any idea when edward V even was king or lived- some 600 years ago!!!
this must have been one of the weirdest fj ever! if i wouldn’t know any better, it looked as if this was arranged by ryan and allison before the game. UNBELIEVABLE!!! i couldn’t believe my eyes when i read the recap!! the chances of this happening as it did must be 1 in god knows how many millions! i am curious to see what alex said about edward V.
just when you think you’ve seen it all!
