The Sting: 1973 Best Picture

“The Sting” was the Best Picture Oscar winner at the 46th Academy Awards, winning the statuette over “American Graffiti”, “Cries and Whispers”, “The Exorcist” and “A Touch of Class”.

This was the year that 10-year-old Tatum O’Neal beat out Linda Blair, Candy Clark, Madeline Kahn and Sylvia Sidney for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar. Watch the little tyke accept the award from Charles Bronson and Jill Ireland here.

But the most notable moment of the ceremony was, of course, the streaker. We daresay David Niven’s reaction was the most priceless moment in Oscar history.

Bruce Lee starred in “Enter the Dragon”. The film was released on July 26, 1973 in Hong Kong, 6 days after Lee’s untimely death at the age of 32.
