New champ Frédérique Delaprée defeated a 6x champ yesterday, holding on to the most money after an FJ nobody knew. Today she is up against these two players: E.A. Srere, from Dallas, TX; and Jake Bryant, from Weymouth, MA.
Round 1: E.A. found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “Home Sweet Home” under the $1,000 clue. She was in the lead with $6,000, $1,600 more than Frédérique in second place. She bet $1,000 and she was RIGHT.
From 1903 to 1957, Beauvoir, his former home in Biloxi, was a home for Confederate veterans & their widows. show
E.A. finished in the lead with $7,800. Frédérique was second with $4,800 and Jake was last with $600.
Round 2: Frédérique found the first Daily Double in “Fedex Doesn’t Go There” under the $1,200 clue. She was in second place with $9,200, $7,000 less than E.A.’s lead. She bet $2,200 and she was RIGHT.
Though this country has “Central” in its name, it’s too far off the beaten path for Fedex. show
E.A. got the last clue on the board, the 2nd Daily Double in “The Duke of Wellington” under the $2,000 clue. She was now in the lead with $20,600, $8,000 more than Frédérique in second place. She bet $2,000 and guessed “the Iron Man.” That was WRONG.
This contemporary nickname was a tribute to Wellington’s toughness; punch put “Wrought” in front of it. show
E.A. finished in the lead with $18,600. Frédérique was next with $12,600 and Jake was in third place with $7,000.
TWO of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right, as we finish off a week of formidable FJs with an easy one.
WHO IS RHETT BUTLER?
Rhett Butler’s first meeting with Scarlett at Twelve Oaks is the priceless memory he refers to in Chapter 9 of “Gone with the Wind,” when he scandalously bids on and wins a dance with the widowed Scarlett. In the first meeting, Scarlett had just finished telling Ashley Wilkes off for rejecting her in favor of marrying his cousin, Melanie Hamilton. Butler revealed he had been in the library the entire time and heard the whole thing, getting her Irish up even more. (Gone with the Wind: Chapter 9)
As much as Rhett enjoyed Scarlett’s spitfire ways, he greatly admired Melanie as one of the few real ladies he had ever known.
Jake got it and bet $5,600. He finished with $12,600.
Frédérique got it, too. Her $2,000 bet brought her up to $14,600.
E.A. apparently misread the clue. She had Scarlett O’Hara, and not her admirer. That cost her $6,600. She landed in third place with $12,000.
So Frédérique won her second game and will be back with us on Monday. Her 2-day total is $20,800. Congrats!

Frederique is one of the LUCKIEST players in a long time. E.A. was obviously the best player, then she went and misread the FJ, which was a ridiculously easy one.
too anxious or not concentrating enough, just reading SOUTHERN BELLE , i gues…..such a defeat hurts even more…..
interesting that e.a. played for a tie. DDs were easy again and so was FJ (i read the book at least 4 times, twice in english first and then in german for comparison and saw the movie 2 or 3 times). too bad that e.a. was too nervous or/and misread the clue, otherwise all 3 would have had it. well, fortune is fickle (pun intended) e.a’s misfortune won the game for frederique. at least the FJ drought is over and frederique kept her cool.

Frederique impresses me as a smart young lady who will not give a response unless she is sure it will be correct. Strategy is part of being smart and winning on Jeopardy as Frederique proved two nights in a row. Sorry Tom your prediction was way off the mark just like the contestant who misread FJ. This is what happens when contestants get too anxious. Slow and steady wins the race.
