Supporting Cast: Liver, I Hardly Know Her – Shameless

Maz Jobrani played Dr. Johnny, who agreed to perform a liver transplant on Frank (William H. Macy) for $26K. He received his medical degree in Chittagong, Bangladesh, but was not licensed in the USA. That was okay with Sheila (Joan Cusack) — as long as he was licensed somewhere. Sammi (Emily Bergl) was a little worried when she saw him get into the waiting taxi — he was driving it — but they were short on other options.

Karthik Srinivasan played Shakhawat, who was going to sell part of his liver to Frank. Shakhawat was a “perfect match.” What Dr. Johnny really did was remove one of Frank’s kidneys. After telling Sheila and Sammi that the operation was a success and they should wait 10 minutes, then call 911, Dr. Johnny ran out of the building with a cooler in his hand. No doubt Frank’s kidney was in it and probably one from Shakhawat, too.

Zach Steel and Selyna Greenman played Jaybone and Ellen, two of Robbie Pratt’s (Nick Gehlfuss) druggie friends. They were the ones in the van arguing over where they were going to sleep when they got to Avery’s pear farm. Jaybone thought Ellen hated Avery, but it was just this one time Ellen was mad about when she passed out and Avery took advantage of her. We didn’t get to see how or why Fiona (Emmy Rossum) ended up taking the trip to the pear farm with them. She didn’t even take her shoes or coat! Anyhow, Fiona was left in Sheboygan, Wisconsin when Jaybone, Ellen and the driver stopped at a convenience store. She wasn’t in the van when they came back and they just took off without her.
