Lindsey Vonn Spends Thanksgiving on the Slopes

After reinjuring her knee in a crash last week, Lindsey Vonn’s chances of returning to the Olympics in February were beginning to look a little dicey.  The 2014 Games open in Sochi, Russia in just a little more than two months, and Vonn hasn’t returned to actual competition yet when she suffered the injury to a ligament on her knee.  She tore both the ACL and MCL on that knee back in February.

With time running out, Vonn decided to try out the knee.  On Thanksgiving, she took to the slopes at Vail, and apparently, things went well as she described the session as “awesome” on her Facebook page.

After last week’s setback, Vonn said she would really have to push herself in the limited time available to get in condition for the Olympics and World Cup events.  We think the key here is the Olympics. Vonn is 29, and it’s possible the Sochi games will be her last.  She is the defending Gold Medalist in the Downhill, and she also took a Bronze in the Super G at Vancouver in 2010.  Vonn has also won four World Cup overall titles.
