WHAT IS “THE BOOK OF MORMON”?

The award-winning Broadway musical comedy “The Book of Mormon” is the work of “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, as well as Robert Lopez (“Avenue Q” AND “Frozen”). It’s an irreverent look at the attempt of 2 Mormon missionaries to share their faith with villagers in Uganda, who are beset with famine, disease and crime.

Ben Brantley wrote the review in the clue for the New York Times. He acknowledges that the show is sacrilegious and blasphemous (e.g., directing the “F” word at God) but, if you can get past that, the musical numbers are “witty, ridiculous, impeccably executed and genuinely stirring.” Not everyone was happy with the show, however. There are a bunch of reviews on NOLA.com, where it is noted that positive reviews outnumber the negatives. Even the Mormon church chose not to take offense, saying “The production may attempt to entertain audiences for an evening, but the Book of Mormon as a volume of scripture will change people’s lives forever by bringing them closer to Christ.”

Jack bet $2,200 and finished with $8,400.

Jamie bet $5,201 and finished with $26,401.

Alex bet $16,001 and won the game with $42,401. Alex DeFrank is the new Jeopardy! champ.

Another power trio. Jack made a couple of costly boo-boos in DJ, but his fate was really sealed by his opponents nailing 3 all-in DDs. I briefly said “Wicked” for FJ but quickly came to my senses and realized what it really was.

Some silly misses on the NP railroad. Singapore hotel on the tip of my tongue, just couldn’t remember it in time. Surprised no one knew Masters’ equally well-known partner. That $2000 clue in Hometowns got me. (It’s Bryan, not Bryant.) Knew all the others.

What an exciting week it has been this week with big paydays. We had two 42,000 paydays in one week and that’s really amazing. I think that Jamie has to be invited back for next year’s Second Chance because she finished with over 21,000 going into FJ!
