Seattle’s Brandon Montour Scores Record Fastest Overtime Goal in NHL History
If you weren’t in your seat when the overtime period began in the Montreal Canadiens-Seattle Kraken game in Seatle on March 12th, you missed, well, the overtime period. Seattle’s Brandon Montour scored the game winner just four seconds into overtime and the Kraken beat the Canadiens 5-4.
It was Montour’s second goal of the game. He also had a pair of assists. Jordan Eberle had three assists for Seattle. Montreal had a 4-2 lead in the third period before Seattle came back with goals by Jani Nyman and Marty Beniers to send it to overtime.
Montreal is one point behind the second Wild Card in the NHL Eastern Conference. Seattle has had a rough year and likely will not make the post season; the Kraken are 11 points behind the second Wild Card in the Western Conference.
