WNBA Beats Team USA In All Star Game
In a tune up before the start of the 2024 Olympics, Team USA took on the WNBA All Stars in the league’s All Star Game in Phoenix on July 20th. The game featured Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese playing on the same team. Those expecting some sort of drama between the two were disappointed; in the fourth quarter Clark had an assist passing to Reese, who scored on a layup. They played like teammates. The All Stars beat Team USA (who also are WNBA players) 117-109.
Clark was a starter, but her signature three pointers weren’t going in; she was 0-7 beyond the arc and finished with four points. She did have 10 assists to lead the team. Reese came off the bench had had a double double with 12 points and a team leading 11 rebounds. But the star of the show and the MVP of the game was Arike Ogunbowale of the Dallas Wings. She led all scorers with 34 points, a record for the All Star Game. Brianna Stewart of the New York Liberty led team USA with 31 points and 10 rebounds.
The WNBA is taking an extended break to accommodate the Olympics. The season will resume on August 15th.
