Golden Knights End Oilers’ Winning Streak at 16

The Vegas Golden Knights broke a 1-1 tie with a pair of goals in the third period and put an end to the Edmonton Oilers’ 16 game winning streak with a 3-1 victory February 6th in Las Vegas. The loss means the streak ends one win short of tying the record of 17 set by the 1992-93 Pittsburgh Penguins.

Connor McDavid opened the scoring in the first period with Edmonton’s only goal of the contest. Nicolas Roy tied it later in the period. After a scoreless second period, Chandler Stephenson scored his ninth goal of the season at the 1:24 mark. William Karlsson completed the scoring with an empty netter late in the game.

After completion of play on February 6th, Edmonton was in third place in the NHL Pacific Division with 59 points. Vegas is second with 66 points and Vancouver leads with a league leading 73 points. Edmonton will try to start a new winning streak on February 8th at Arizona.
