Washington and Oregon Are on Top of the Pac-12 in College Football
For a conference that’s basically disintegrating next year as most of the teams leave, the Pac-12 is going out with a bang. Washington is 11-0 and ranked #4 in the country in the Associated Press Poll while Oregon is 10-1 and ranked #6. Both have a shot at the four team College Football Playoff. Two other Pac-12 schools are in the Top 25–#15 Oregon State (8-3) and #16 Arizona. Utah (7-4) just missed the Top 25.
Washington beat then #11 Oregon State 22-20 on November 18th, while Oregon drilled Arizona State 49-13. The Ducks had a 42-0 lead at halftime and were content to coast the rest of the way. Washington handed Oregon its only loss of the season, a 36-33 squeaker in Seattle on October 14th. Washington hosts Washington State (5-6) on November 25th, while Oregon will host Oregon State on November 24th. Washington will play in the Pac-12 championship game on December 1st; the Huskies likely opponent will be Oregon.
Next year, Washington, Oregon, USC, and UCLA will join the Big Ten conference. Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah will join the Big 12. California and Stanford will join the ACC, a.k.a the Atlantic Coast conference, even though they are obviously on the Pacific coast and will be racking up a lot of frequent flyer miles. That will leave Washington State and Oregon State as the only members of the Pac-12, unless some other schools join which isn’t likely before the 2024 school year.
