Carlos Leon, Madonna and the Cone Bra
Madonna’s ex, Carlos Leon, appeared on The Joy Behar Show to talk about his new movie “Immigration Tango.”
They didn’t really talk much about it though, other than to say it has a lot of nudity in it. Joy said Carlos was used to that and wanted to know why he was used to it. Carlos explained that he did a play, “Aunt Dan and Lemon,” by Wallace Shawn where he “actually had to be on stage naked being strangled by a 19-year old woman” for 12 minutes.
“12 minutes — naked — full Monty,” Joy remarked.
“Full Monty,” Carlos replied, “It was very difficult.”
He said it was very hard and every night he was nauseated and even throwing up because he was so nervous, but at the same time, the experience had a liberating effect on his outlook on nudity in theater and films.
Carlos suffers from the Curse of Juliette Lewis. A problem Juliette runs into a lot in interviews is people still want to ask her about her ancient relationship with Brad Pitt, and she and Brad never even had a child together. So you can imagine it’s even worse with Carlos since he and Madonna have a child. Maybe we should call it the Curse of Carlos.
We like Carlos. We saw him on all the Law & Order shows he was on (admittedly because we are Law & Order junkies). On Special Victims Unit, he played Oscar Assadorian in “Wildlife” and Nicky Crow in “Baby Killer.”
He was in 3 episodes of regular Law & Order, playing Diego Cardenas in “Challenged;” Rafael Celaya in “Couples” and Mr. Sandoval in “Endurance.”
In Criminal Intent, he was Enrique Zuella in “Blind Spot” and JoJo Martinez in “Best Defense.”
Anyway, when the Madonna connection arose, Carlos said he met the Material Girl in Central Park. He pretty much “picked her up.” The topic of shared parenting also came up and Carlos indicated that he and Madonna have an amicable arrangement. Joy asked him where they came up with the name “Lourdes.” He said it’s after the town of Lourdes in France (where St. Bernadette saw the Virgin Mary and where her incorruptible body still lies). Carlos said Madonna’s grandmother was from Lourdes, and they used his mother’s name for Lourdes’ middle name.
He also said that Madonna is more the disciplinarian with Lourdes than he is. Joy asked him if Madonna wears the cone bra when she disciplines Lourdes. Carlos laughed and said: “I hope not. She used to wear that when she used to discipline me.”
You could tell he was only kidding, but it was a quick-witted and funny reply.
