U.S. Ties England in World Cup
The United States played England to a scoreless tie in their World Cup match on November 25th. That’s not a bad finish considering England is regarded as the best team in Group B and beat Iran 6-2 in those teams’ tournament opener.
The U.S. did hold England scoreless, but failed to score themselves, and only scored once in their opening game1-1 draw with Wales. But the U.S. will need to score more if they are to advance to the round of 16. After two games, England is at the top of the standings with 4 points, while Iran has 3, the U.S. 2 and Wales 1 (three points for a win, one for a draw). England, already assured to advance, will play Wales, and Iran will play the U.S. in the final games of the round. The U.S. must win versus Iran to advance. That game will be on November 29th.
