Lightning Storm Back In Game 3 of Stanley Cup Finals With 6-2 Win Over Avalanche

After absorbing a 7-0 drubbing at the hands of the Colorado Avalanche in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals, and falling behind 2-0 in the series, the Tampa Bay Lightning promptly fell behind 1-0 in Game 3 on their home ice. But then, Anthony Cirelli and Ondrej Palat each scored to give the Lightning a 2-1 lead at the first intermission. Tampa Bay then scored four times in the second period, chasing Avalanche goalie Darcy Kuemper with 8:45 left in the period. He was replaced with backup Pavel Francouz. Kuemper, who was the winning goalie in Games 1 and 2, had an awful time of it stopping just 17 of 22 shots. Francouz allowed one goal.

Andrei Vasilevskiy had a much better time in goal for Tampa Bay, stopping 37 of 39 shots, allowing two power play goals by Gabriel Landeskog, and making up for that 7-0 disaster in Game 2.

Game 3 is on June 22nd in Tampa. The Lightning may be without Nikita Kucherov who was injured on a cross check by Devon Toews. Kucherov has had a great post season, and had two assists in Game 3.
