Oprah Life You Want Tour Coming in September

Oprah WinfreyOprah Winfrey has announced that she will be touring the country beginning in September, 2014.

The media mogul will take her “The Life You Want” tour through 8 cities: Atlanta, GA, Auburn Hills, MI, Houston, TX,  Miami, FL, Newark, NJ, Seattle, WA, San Jose, CA, and Washington, D.C. Tickets will start at $99 and can go up to $999 for VIP packages. Some VIP packages include actually meeting Winfrey.

Tickets will go on sale April 7 on Oprah.com.

Oprah plans to conduct a two-day experience at each stop, which will feature a keynote address with the talk show queen sharing her personal story and advice on the first night. The second installment includes group activities and other speakers. Eat Pray Love author Elizabeth Gilbert, pastor Rob Bell, OWN star Iyanla Vanzant and, in certain cities, guru Deepak Chopra, have all signed on as speakers.

Winfrey says: “It’s about living the life you want, because a great percentage of the population is living a life that their mother wanted, that their husband wanted, that they thought or heard they wanted.” Empowerment, resilience and authenticity are the themes she will be promoting. In short, the same messages Oprah and her merry band of gurus are always peddling.

If you’re not near any of the locations or just don’t have $999 to splurge on the “experience,” but you still want to be empowered, may we suggest the local library. There are plenty of books with the same themes and it’s free.

Newoka, check on Amazon for titles in self-help, or subcategories for what you are specifically looking for like spiritual self-help, success, motivational, happiness. All of the people joining Oprah on her tour have books on these topics but they are not the only ones. You can probably get an idea of what books will be good for you by reading both positive and negative reviews on Amazon.

If you can’t get a book at the library, the kindle versions of many books are much cheaper and you can download a free kindle app to your computer.

      Hope that helps.
