Niki finished in the lead with $16,400. Sam was next with $8,600 and Sarah was in third place with $4,800.

Only ONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.

WHO IS JOE BIDEN?

“Joe Biden (1942-) became vice president of the United States after spending 36 years as a U.S. senator from Delaware. Democratic nominee Barack Obama selected him as a running mate for the 2008 election, and the pair entered office in January 2009 following their defeat of Arizona Senator John McCain and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.” (History.com)

Here is a link to a pdf on the website of Iowa’s Senator Chuck Grassley, showing how many senators have cast over 10,000 roll call votes. Joe Biden is No. 12.

Sarah thought it was Obama. She bet and lost it all. So she finished with yesterday’s total: $22,001.

Sam got it right after crossing out Byrd. He doubled up today and finished with $17,200. That brought him up to $39,200 after adding his $22,000.

Niki had Senator Byrd. That cost her $3,350 bet and she had $13,050 left. Yesterday’s $18,600 made her 2-day total $31,650, putting her in second place.

That made Sam Deutsch the 2016 College Champ. A big congrats to Sam — great work!

I’m sorry guys. I’m sorry VJ. I’m sorry Richard Corliss. All I can say is that Sam Deutsch won this year’s college tournament and will be in the Tournament of Champions, but I wasn’t actually expecting him to win, while I wanted Sarah to win. I was also not expecting Niki to win, so Sam won.

  2. VJ says:

@William Weyser, On behalf of those who don’t know what you are talking about, where or when or how does your 6th version of the Tournament Of Champions take place?

    • William Weyser says:

I’m doing this in my 4th bedroom, and all I have is the JEOPARDY! Wii game, a notebook, something to draw or write with, and an audience to see what happens through this entire tournament. This tournament lasts from February 15th-26th, 2016.

  3. William Weyser says:

Congratulations, Sam Deutsch! You’re the 2016 College Champ, we’ll see you in the next TOC, and most importantly, you’ve completed my 6th version of the Tournament Of Champions. Niki and Sarah, great run, but I’m sorry, it’s over!
Here are the quarter-final match-ups in my 6th version of the TOC, and this tournament lasts from Feb. 15th- Feb. 26th.

Mon. Brennan Bushee vs. Andrew Haringer vs. Alex Maggio
Tue. Dan Feitel vs. Sam Deutsch vs. Darren Harris-Fain
Wed. Fred Vaughn vs. Natalie Lips vs. Choyon Manjrekar
Thu. Scott Lord vs. John Berman vs. Sean Anderson
Fri. Matt Jackson vs. Scott Ylinen vs. Steve Belding

  4. Robert Anderson says:

Niki blew it with bad betting strategy on Thursday.

  5. Trevor Panno says:

Niki should have bet $4,201 and if she had been right, that would have made her 2-day total $39,201

  6. Marilyn Ahrenhoerster says:

Even if Niki had the correct answer in fj, she would have not won!

  7. EricS says:

Niki had two chances to put the tournament away. Either going Roger Craig on the the first “FJ” or on her DD today would’ve put the lead out of reach.
Of course, she made a solid showing and likely has a bright future ahead.

  8. Dalton Higbee says:

I never knew Sam was going to win, I wanted Sarah to win!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. VJ says:

Wow, that’s all I can say. When Sarah got that DD and bet it all and I saw it was a quote, I cringed. Especially after that Women’s Army Corps clue that Sam missed for leaving out the “s” after Women.

I was worried that Sarah would leave a word out or put a word in the wrong place so I typed my answer out, thinking well, let’s see if you remember it correctly yourself. (I did). I was really floored that she couldn’t come up with anything. Tough break.

  10. Richard Corliss says:

(Imitating Young Freddie Benson) Yeah, Way to go Sam you just ruined all girl ga– ooh popcorn.
