Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Hits Three Homers, Drives in Seven in Blue Jays Victory
Vladimir Guerrero is in the Baseball Hall of Fame, but on April 27th, his son Vladimir Guerrero Jr. accomplished something his father never did in the majors. Guerrero Jr. hit three home runs, including a grand slam in the Toronto Blue Jays 9-5 victory over the Washington Nationals. He also drove in seven runs. Two of the home runs, including the grand slam, were off Washington starter Max Scherzer. Father and son have both hit home runs off Scherzer; who gave up one in 2010 and one in 2011 to Vlad Sr.
Vlad Jr. is off to a great start in 2021, hitting .360 with seven homers and 19 RBIs. The Jays “home” game was played at the Blue Jays’ upgraded spring training facility in Dunedin, Florida, due to Covid travel restrictions between Canada and the U.S.
