Tyler O’Neill Hits Home Run in Record Sixth Consecutive Opening Day
Tyler O’Neill of the Baltimore Orioles really likes Opening Day of the baseball season. On March 27th, O’Neill hit a three run homer in the Orioles’ 12-2 win over the Blue Jays in Toronto. It was the sixth consecutive Opening Day that he has hit a home run, extending his own major league record.
O’Neill hit his first four Opening Day homers as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals. He was traded to the Boston Red Sox after the 2023 season, and hit his fifth homer in the 2024 opener. He signed as a free agent with Baltimore in the last off season, and hit his sixth.

In another home run first on Opening Day, the New York Yankees’ Austin Wells became the first catcher to hit a lead off homer an Opening Day in MLB history when he connected off Freddy Peralta in the Yankees’ 4-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers.
