The trial is governed by strict protocols

Kim Raver plays Dr. Bergstein. She made a prior appearance in “Horses” when she was in the room with Smitty’s mom. We were wondering at the time if Smitty’s mom would get a storyline, but it is the good doctor who did. Dr. Bergstein’s trial is Bridget’s last hope that Smitty won’t die even though she hasn’t looked at how many people had the surgery and didn’t make it, as far as we know. Thinking she can get Smitty back in the trial by threatening Dr. Bergstein with a gun was a terrible decision but it did seem for a few seconds that Bergstein might comfort the distraught girl after she got the gun off her. But no, Bergstein got her locked up and Bridget must be beside herself. The question now is whether Bridget is desperate enough to blow the whistle on her own father for giving Smitty meningitis.

Do clients often stay in your apartment?

Roxana Brusso played Detective Veronica Russo, who is investigating Natalie James’ murder. We don’t get what there is to investigate really. They know Rob did it and now that they know Doug Landry got Natalie pregnant, there’s the motive. But Rob is dead, too. So there’s no one to arrest. We bet Brusso knows Terry’s wife, Maureen.

What happens in Urgent Care, stays in Urgent Care

Jennifer Sommerfeld played Dr. Rubinstein who treated Mickey Donovan for his Triceratops 5 problem. She knew just how to deal with dirty old men like Mickey.

Other Notes:

• After the Donovan boyos got Bunchy’s money back, and now that Bunchy was aware of the tension between Terry and Ray, he decided to tell this joke: “How do you get a nun pregnant?” He mangled the punchline with “dress her up like a man.” Ray gave him the right punchline– an altar boy– but he didn’t get it so Terry had to repeat the whole thing. Since that fell flat,, Bunchy told his brothers something that their mother always told him before he got out of the car. Whenever he was moping around mad at something his siblings did, Mary Donovan reminded him that his brothers and sister were the only people in the world that would ever know him from the day he was born to the day he died and he should never forget that. It was a touching moment but did little good. When Terry tried to talk to Ray, Ray coldly told Terry that his killing Acid Man (thereby saving Ray’s life) changed nothing.
• We were wondering what happened to Baby Maria last week and she turned up in this episode. This week we’re wondering whatever happened to Ray’s anger management sessions with Dr. Brogan. Maybe Ray has finished them and we just didn’t see it because Brogan said he would report Ray if he didn’t. Or maybe Brogan will get Ray arrested just when Sam Winslow sends the one who killed Tom Minor to kill Ray because Ray wouldn’t kill Doug Landry. Ridiculous, of course, but it is also ridiculous that Sam didn’t just get the one who killed Tom to kill Doug.
• We noticed on Jake Busey’s IMDB profile that he has a role in next week’s episode as an LSN chef on that shopping network Ray was watching at the end of this episode. omg! Maybe he is Acid Man’s twin brother. We’re assuming Ray will see him the next time he tunes into that channel and freak out. That oughta be good.
