Devin Booker Scores 70 Points but Suns Somehow Lose to Celtics
Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker did just that in the team’s game against the Boston Celtics on March 24th. Booker scored 70 points, including 51 in the second half but the Suns managed to waste this monster performance, losing the game 130-120.
It’s been that kind of year for the Suns, who have lost nine of their last 10. Booker is only the sixth player to score 70 or more points in an NBA game, joining Wilt Chamberlain (who did it six times include 100 in a game in 1962), David Thompson, David Robinson, Elgin Baylor, and Kobe Bryant. Booker, 20, is in his second year with Phoenix after playing one season of college ball at Kentucky. He’s averaging 21.6 points per game. His career high was 39 points, set back in November against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Booker is only 20 years old. Kerry Wood was 21 when he struck out 20. You never know what is going to happen later, but both of these guys are in incredible company.
David Thompson, like Gale Sayers and Bobby Orr, could have truly incredible careers if surgery was as advanced then as it is now.
