Stars Score Five Times in Third Period to Beat Oilers 6-3

The Edmonton Oilers appeared in pretty good shape going into the third period of their opening game of the Stanley Cup Western Conference Finals versus the Stars in Dallas on May 21st. Edmonton led 3-1, but things quickly unraveled as soon as the third period started.

Dallas’ Miro Heiskanen scored a power play goal just 32 seconds into the period. Mikael Granlund scored another power play goal at 3:49 to tie it up, and Matt Duchene added a third power play goal at 5:58 to give the Stars the lead at 4-3. Later, Tyler Seguin scored his second goal of the game and Esa Lindell added an empty netter to complete a five goal third period and a 6-3 Dallas rout in Game 1 of this rematch of last year’s Western Final.

Game 2 of the series is May 23rd in Dallas. The Stars took two of three from the Oilers during the regular season.
