Sharks Get First Win of the Season

This NHL season is not starting out well for the San Jose Sharks. Through their first 11 games the best they could do was an overtime loss, which is good for one point in the standings, but that’s still a loss meaning the Sharks lost their first 11 games. During that time, they were shut out twice and gave up 10 goals in both Game 10 and Game 11.

Finally, in Game 12 of the season on November 7th, the Sharks hosted the Philadelphia Flyers. San Jose could only manage 19 shots on goal to the Flyers’ 39, but only one Philadelphia shot found the back of the goal while the Sharks scored twice. Result: a 2-1 San Jose victory to snap the 11 game losing streak.

San Jose was the final NHL team to get its first victory of the season, and at 1-10-1 has the worst record in the league but fellow Pacific Division rival Edmonton is just 2-8-1 and has the next worse record. The two will play each other at San Jose on November 9th.
