RIP: David Bowie Succumbs to Cancer
Legendary rock icon, David Bowie, lost his 18-month battle with cancer on January 10, 2016, two days after his 69th birthday. His representative confirmed that Bowie passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, in a statement that noted: “While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.”
Bowie was born David Jones in Brixton, South London and raised in the suburb of Bromley. He became famous in 1969 with the hit “Space Oddity.”
In the 1970s, Bowie made an indelible mark in the music world with his Ziggy Stardust persona, his groundbreaking albums such as Heroes, Low and Diamond Dogs. He was also a trendsetter in the world of fashion. His acting credits include “The Man Who Fell to Earth” and “The Last Temptation of Christ.”
Bowie’s latest album, “Blackstar,” was his parting gift to the world, according to his producer. He is survived by his wife, Iman, and two children, Duncan and Alexandria.
Twitter tributes continue to pour in from around the world.

I grew up listening to and watching the pop genius David Bowie. He was a master of re-invention, who kept getting it right. A huge loss.

Yesterday I watched the video “Blackstar” and I found it very eerie. So I watched good oldies Fame and Modern Love again. For me, these are better memories of him to hold on to.
Part of the genius of Bowie was his ability to adapt effectively as desired. I think all of the examples cited are evidence.
Thank you for being on stage with NIN and so much more. You were incredible.
Check ignition and may God’s love be with you…
“Let’s dance, put on your red shoes and dance the blues…”
I remember my mother and I dancing to this song when I was a little girl. I didn’t understand a coma of English then but, no matter, I enjoyed the music. 🙂
How sweet 🙂 Little girls do love to dance!
