Rangers Beat Devils Behind Chris Kreider’s 2nd Hat Trick in Five Games
The New York Rangers are trying to claw their way back to a playoff berth and forward Chris Kreider is doing more than his part to get them there. Kreider scored his second hat trick in five games and his ninth goal in six games as the Rangers beat the host New Jersey Devils 6-1 on March 4th, New York’s fourth win in six games.
During that six game stretch, Kreider was held off the score sheet just once, in a loss to the Boston Bruins. His other hat trick came in a February 24th loss at Philadelphia. Kreider has 13 goals and two assists this season. The Rangers were 4-7-3 on February 16th; with the win over the Devils, they improved to 9-9-3 and are sixth in the East with 21 points. They are six points behind Philadelphia for the fourth playoff slot in the East, and while there is still plenty of season left, they face a difficult task in a highly competitive division.
