R.I.P. Henri Richard
Henri Richard, a 5’7″ center who won 11 Stanley Cups in his 20 year NHL career, all with the Montreal Canadiens, passed away on March 6th, 2020. He was 84 years old.
Henri was the younger brother of Hall of Famer Maurice Richard, who played for Montreal from the 1942-43 through 1959-60 seasons. Henri joined Maurice in Montreal in the 1955-56 season. The two played together until Maurice retired in 1960. The Canadiens won the Stanley Cup all five of those seasons the two Richards played together. Henri went on to play on six more Cup winners between the 1964-65 and 1972-73 seasons. He scored 358 goals and had 688 assists in 1258 regular season games, and 49 goals and 80 assists in 180 post season games. His 11 Stanley Cups won is a record for an NHL player. Henri Richard was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1979.
