Pistons Beat Raptors and End Losing Streak at 28 Games
The Detroit Pistons held off the visiting Toronto Raptors to win their first game since October 28th, ending their 28 game losing streak. The final score was 129-127. The losing streak was the longest in a single season by an NBA team, and tied the record for longest losing streak in NBA history, set by the Philadelphia 76ers. That streak began in the 2014-15 season and ended in the 2015-16 season.
Cade Cunningham, who has been having a fine season despite the futility of the team, led Detroit with 30 points and 12 assists. Jalen Durham scored 18 and had 17 rebounds, and the Pistons had a total of six players scoring in double figures. Pascal Siakam scored 35 for Toronto and Dennis Schroder added 30. Detroit led 53-44 at halftime, but the Pistons were outscored 83-77 in the high scoring second half before emerging with just their third victory of the season, and first since October 28th. Detroit is 3-29, while Toronto fell to 12-20.
The Pistons will try to match their season long two game winning streak (set in games two and three, their only previous victories) on New Year’s Day when they play at the Houston Rockets.
