Phoenix Beats Utah 117-113 in Overtime in Matchup of Best Records in the NBA
Two years ago, the Phoenix Suns finished with a 19-63 record after a 21-61 campaign the season before that. Last year, they were 34-39. This year, the 2nd place Suns are battling the 1st place Utah Jazz for the lead in the NBA Western Conference, and the two have the best records in the whole NBA. On April 7th, the teams played each other in Phoenix, and the game was not disappointing as it went into overtime before the Suns pulled off a 117-113 victory.
The game was a showcase for each team’s rising star as Donovan Mitchell of the Jazz lead all scorers with 41 points, and the Suns’ Devin Booker was next with 35. Veteran Chris Paul, picked up in a major off season trade, scored 29 for Phoenix and had nine rebounds.
Phoenix (36-14) climbed to within a game and a half of Utah (38-13) atop the Western Conference. The Suns have won the first two matchups with the Jazz this season; they meet for the final time in the regular season on April 30th in Phoenix.
