Patrick Kane Scores 500th Career NHL Goal
The Detroit Red Wings’ Patrick Kane scored his 500th career goal in Detroit’s 5-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks on January 8th. There have been 50 players who have scored 500 goals in the NHL, but Kane is only the fifth U.S born player to do so.
Kane scored two goals in the game. He scored the first goal of the game on a power play late in the first period for number 499. He added an empty netter in the third for his 500th. He has eight goals and 18 assists in 30 games this season. The Red Wings improved to 26-15-4 on the season, good for 56 points. They are tied with Montreal for 1st in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference, and are in third place overall in the conference (the Carolina Hurricanes lead with 57 points).
The 37 year old Kane began his career at age 19 in the 2007-8 season with the Chicago Black Hawks and was part of three Stanley Cup winning teams with Chicago. He split time with the Hawks and New York Rangers in the 2022-23 season and is in his third season with Detroit.
