Even though Ken wasn’t the winning Master Mind yesterday, he still beat the brakes off everyone else who competed on the show throughout the season. He truly is the GOAT of trivia and will probably be the next Jeopardy host.
There were 65 episodes and they only allowed Ken to compete in 49 of them, I have no idea why. He won 34 of them and lost 15. Muffy won 17 times, but she was on every single episode. This annoying lady lost 48 freaking times and I hope to God they replace her.
Thanks for watching!
Also, I’m not much of a lady. I prefer “woman.”
Remember a few weeks ago when we were singing the praises of Brooke Burns and saying she’d be a great replacement for alex when he retires. Well, as good as she is at hosting trivia games, (and she is awesome at it! ), her dream job might be to become the next host of the “The Price Is Right”! The way she celebrates with the contestants when they win, she’d be incredible!
JJ, I think Brook would be an incredible asset to just about any game show really. I’d rather see her on Jeopardy! though.
Oh… I would also rather see her on J! because (1) I like J! way better than The Price Is Right and (2) you don’t have to have an ounce of intelligence to host the latter. On J!, she’d be showcasing her intellect, wit & charm all in one fell swoop!
I wonder how are they are going to handle The Price is Right from now on, in terms of the new reality?
I betcha The Price Is Right doesn’t come back anytime soon! J!, Master Minds, Wheel of Fortune, etc. could make comebacks w/out studio audiences. ABC was airing “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” w/ Jimmy Kimmel earlier this year w/out an audience, and it was still pretty entertaining. (Except for Dr. Phil’s appearance. OMG – it took him 20 minutes to answer one single question!) TPIR is simply too dependent on its overly excitable audience/contestants to try to proceed w/out them.
I concur with your Price is Right thesis, Professor Grape.
I can’t stand Dr. Phil for one minute, let alone 20, yuck.
It was truly painful watching him play that game on TV – Jimmy Kimmel kept poking fun at him trying to make him speed it up, but it was to no avail. Man, was he horrible!
As painful as a geography quiz lol?
I got 2, 3, and 5 right today. No idea on the $10,000 question. Never heard of it.
I got 4 out of 5 — the math one was my downfall, not surprisingly. However, I was surprised they both missed the book cover. The image appeared in my mind immediately.
Never heard of the answer to the $10K question either.
Funny, I had no idea for the book cover – while I love the movie adaptation, I haven’t read the book.
The calculus question was the only one I knew right away with 100% certainty. I thought for the final round a more appropriate question would have been asking for the German who discovered calculus at the same time as Newton. I recall my calculus teacher in high school telling the story very briefly, and hearing it again later a few times. Liebnitz as a person is far less known today, but his notation for calculus is used today while Newton’s has almost disappeared.
Thanks for the info, JP. I will read up on it to help me remember and hopefully, if it ever comes up on J!, I will get it 😁
As for the book and movie, the hand holding the puppet strings is actually part of the title, as you can see here, on wikipedia’s article. It’s over the last part of the compound word wherever (book, DVD, posters, etc)
Interesting, I had never noticed that before.
Ck the zippers on your slacks, purse, etc… I’m willing to bet that “pull tab” has the letters YKK on most if not all of them.
JJ, I checked two of my hoodies and bingo. No YKK or anything else on the 3 zippers for my purse though.
Yup – for whatever reason, most apparel items use the YKKs but other fringe items will often use another version. I actually first learned about that company watching “The Chase” a couple of years ago. If I recall the Q was “On what everyday item will you most likely see the initials YKK? (A) Coffee Maker (B) Keys (C) Zippers. The Beast knew it… I guessed “keys”.
In trivia, and life in general, it’s important to be very observant and pay close attention to details. Recently, we have seen questions not only about zippers on quiz shows but flags, colors in Google logo (which letter is what specific color), ad infinitum. In other words, the little things in life are just important as the big things in life. This is a lesson to be learned from trivia. Little things in life may not be just trivial. It can make a difference between big money or no money.
