Leonard Fournette Scores Five Touchdowns as LSU Beats Texas Tech
LSU running back Leonard Fournette had a stellar season, but was not named a finalist for this year’s Heisman Trophy. Three subpar (by his standards) performances in three LSU losses near the end of the season probably kept him home. In the AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl (we have no idea what AdvoCare V100 is), in Houston on December 29th, Fournette showed everyone once again what he can on a football field.
Fournette rushed for 212 yards, scored four rushing touchdowns, and added a touchdown reception as LSU beat Texas Tech 56-27. For the season (12 games), Fournette rushed 300 times for 1953 yards and 22 touchdowns. That averages out to almost 163 rushing yards per game. The Tigers only played 12 including the bowl game because a September game against McNeese State was cancelled due to lightning). A sophomore from New Orleans, Fournette will return to Baton Rouge next season, so put him on your early Heisman watch list.
