As I watched the “institutions” episode, I literally screamed at the screen. They were easy even for me (seriously, I do not possess nearly as much classical knowledge as do most who post here). People who watch this show to test their knowledge are clearly being cheated: not only by the frustration of watching contestants (maybe participants would be a better term) look as if the clue was in Klingon, but by the number of clues left unrevealed.

VJ, thanks for the footage of the triple stumpers. I could understand the contestants missing the 1929 clue. My opinion is any contestant studying for J would focus on the stock market crash for that year. That appears to be a popular question on Jeopardy. However I cannot understand a contestant missing the NATO clue.

These stumpers are indicators of how our educational system is slippng in the United States.

As to the 1929 Oscar clue — there are only 2 movies that won Oscars in the 20s! heh heh.

NATO’s headquarters? Duh. As for the education system — I know a guy in his 80s who asked me if I knew where Waterloo is located and I said, yes, it’s in Belgium. He said, no, it’s in Russia.
