James Harden Scores a 60 Point Triple Double in Rockets Win over Magic
The Houston Rockets came into their January 30th game against the Orlando Magic without some of their scoring firepower. Guard Chris Paul and forward Trevor Ariza were both out with injuries, and guard Eric Gordon left the game just 10 minutes in, and had not scored in that time. So James Harden took it upon himself to fill in the gaps.
And fill them he did. Harden scored 60 points, had 10 rebounds, and 11 assists to lead the Rockets to a 114-107 win over the Magic in Houston. Harden’s triple double was the first one in NBA history where 60 points were scored. He also set a career high in scoring, breaking his old record of 56 set earlier this season. Harden is the league leader in scoring at 31.6 points per game.
The Rockets improved to 36-13, and trial Golden State by three games in the overall Western Conference standings; they lead the Southwest Division by four games over San Antonio. Speaking of San Antonio, the Rockets will head west on I-10 and take on the Spurs in the Alamo City in their next game on February 1st.
