I wonder, ever so slightly, what Martha said to Lynda as they broke to commercial after the FJ topic announcement. You could just see Martha lean over and start to talk.

Martha did it again with her phrasing, and twice, at that – not in the form of a question. I thought she was going to time out on the one.

Congrats to Michael, doing, as VJ said, his thing, and just grinding back to the lead and win!

Missed the show completely watching that thrilling Yankees-RedSox game. Thank goodness for the daily recaps here. Couldn’t come up with the 2nd word of the FJ answer.

Some of those stumpers weren’t killers. Caribbean capital; the 2 in Sounds Like an Animal; the pilgrimage to Mecca author; and the author/illustrator. Thought all 3 DDs were tricky and guessed right only on the 2nd one. Michael’s big bet on the 3rd won him the match.

    • VJ says:

I was rooting for Michael mainly because he tried so hard to win and kept plugging away, despite that one DD setback

idk about that pawned jewelry animal sound. I know — it’s a matter of pronunciation — but I’ve never heard anyone say the bird word like the “pawn” word

I agree with you about the pawned jewelry animal sound, VJ. I think Alex would have nixed that clue. “Pawn” always sounds like “porn” to me lol.

        • VJ says:

That’s funny, Rhonda. I thought the contestants probably didn’t ring in on that “pawn” clue because the answer they had in mind rhymed with clock!

        • rhonda says:

That’s hilarious, VJ! I didn’t even think of that, I sure am getting slow in my old age!

Happy to see every one getting this right. Congrats to Michael being a new champ.
