Jeopardy is the only quiz show where you can get the answer wrong, and still be ruled correct. Unless, of course, you answer Barry instead of Berry. I just wish the judges would stop making up and changing the rules as they go. It’s very frustrating as a viewer for the judges to be so inconsistent. If it were me, contestants would have to get the answer exactly right, no exceptions, ever. Another example of a mistake the judges have made that I never heard any mention of anywhere, is the 1/24/20 episode, where the answer was Angel Food Cake, but the judges allowed Angel’s Food Cake. There is a such thing as Devil’s Food Cake, but the Angel version does not have an S in it.

Yeah, that is very annoying! I also wish that as well!

    • Sammi says:

The real question is why even watch a show that frustrates and annoys you?

      • Darius Doom Scott! says:

I don’t know, I’m just a fan of Jeopardy! But I’m not a fan of the mistakes that are made during Jeopardy!

        • Darius Doom Scott! says:

And that is wierd that it sometimes annoys me but I still watch it. Very wierd!

  2. Howard says:

A little surprised that Jen didn’t know Earl of Sandwich. The “Earl of” and “restaurants” in the clue were a direct hint of the answer. True or not, the Earl of Sandwich was said to be an inveterate gambler and demanded a meal that would enable him to stay at the table. That’s a pretty well-known tale. The Sandwich Islands, later Hawaii, were named after the Earl.

HA! Pot Belly! heeheehee… now no more comments from me on this post… hehe…

  4. Albert says:

‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ is only a decent book, nothing special. I gave it only a 5 out of 10.

  5. Jack Cross says:

    She got the FINAL WRONG.
Its a title A Handmaids Tale is wrong
The Title is The Handmaids Tale

    • VJ says:

As Dr. Gupta explained: “the title of the work is “the”, but we don’t rule against a contestant for getting the initial article wrong.”

      • Karl Tomkins says:

As a VERY long-time fan (and near-contestant) of Jeopardy…I was surprised at that ruling…and at Jeopardy’s explanation.

Reallyl? Would you accept “A Sound of Music”? “A Godfather”?

        Maybe. (But you shouldn’t…)

“THE American in Paris”? NO POSSIBLE WAY.

TItles should always be precise. Otherwise, you’re just wrong.

        She was wrong.

        • VJ says:

@Karl, I am even more surprised than you that you were surprised by the ruling. Very long-time fans must have seen this ruling many times. Here’s one I remember all the way back to 2014, though there have been others both before and since. Yet, just about every time it happens, there are complaints.

The bottom line here is that it’s their show and they can make their own rules. As far as consistency goes, my feeling is that it’s unreasonable to expect 100% consistency from the judges. There are probably times when even the judges don’t agree and it ends up a majority ruling.

  6. Darius 34 says:

It was a very good day for Jen except for the fact that she got all two daily doubles wrong.

  7. Lou says:

Jen made a great comeback despite not getting those two daily doubles. It might have worked in her favor yesterday but I am Definitely hoping she can Get her luck back next week. Either way, I have seen big costly bets previously in final jeopardy but Kathy should have bet just 2000 to.cover tom.

    • Darius Doom Scott! says:

Oh yeah, I remember! It looks like Kathryn and Tom didn’t have a very good Final Jeopardy! time at all.

    • Howard says:

Kathryn was in the lead, and had to wager nearly everything just in case Tom bet the farm and they both got it right. It’s the so-called curse of being in the lead.

  8. Darius Doom Scott! says:

Another win by the Jen Jazwinski! I hope she makes it into the Tournament of Champions!
