Davey found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “Words in a Dickens Title” under the $600 on the third pick of the round. He had $800 and was the only one with any money. Davey bet the $1,000 allowance and tried “expectations” but that was WRONG.

Phil found the first Daily Double in “American Rivers” under the $1,200 clue on the very first pick. The scores were the same as above. Phil bet the $2,000 allowance and he was RIGHT.

Luke Combs was “kissin’ on a blonde in a backyard pool” let the wild rumpus start with this song, also a kids’ book title show
Davey finished in the lead with a runaway $13,000. Phil was next with $2,000 and Krista was in third place with $1,200. 4 clues worth $6,000 were not shown.

WHO IS THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN?
Margaret Brown (née Tobin) was born in Hannibal, Missouri on 7/18/1867. The nickname “Unsinkable Molly Brown” came about after she was one of the survivors when the RMS Titanic sank on 4/15/1912. Brown’s rags-to-riches life story was ready-made grist for the gossip mill, which led to various colorful stories being bandied about. One of them is the unlikely tale of Mark Twain rescuing Brown from drowning. Twain was 32 years older than Brown for one thing. Tammy Grimes earned a Best Actress Tony for her portrayal of Molly Brown in the 1960 musical “The Unsinkable Molly Brown”; The 1964 film version starred Debbie Reynolds in the title role.
Krista got it right. She doubled her score to $2,400.
Phil guessed Harriet Beecher Stowe (Mark Twain’s neighbor in Connecticut). That cost Phil $500 and left him with $1,500.
Davey also got it right. He bet $512 and won the game with $13,512. Davey’s 2-day total is $29,012.

Yikes! I was worried about Neilesh being a “cooler”, but, Davey didn’t really put the lights out today. He has one chance now to turn it around!
I was 2/3 on DD, but got FJ. I even said “Unsinkable”!!
I liked this fj clue. The word “drowning” led me to only one possible person. I saw the movie but don’t recall anything about Mark Twain being mentioned. Surprised at the former mayor from New York miss. I watch his Business channel daily. I guess not everyone is a fan of his accomplishments .
Final got me, I was thinking Calamity Jane. I toured the Molly Brown house in Denver in 2006 but don’t remember that story.
Not much of a game. Challengers repeatedly shot themselves in the foot, and way too many stumpers. A few were very knowable: “How Deep” song; Philly river; NYC mayor; alliterative paper. 2nd DD only one I knew.
The wording used in some of today’s clues were something to be desired. Anyways, I was trying to figure out whom the woman was that Mark Twain had reportedly saved. Out of desperation, I took a wild guess, and went with Belle Starr. Actually, I think that the Mark Twain inclusion was designed to throw people off the boat rather than to steer them around the berg.
We’ll see how tomorrow goes with the Season 40 Finale.

Tammy Grimes, who played Molly Brown on B’way, is Amanda Plummer’s mommy.
There were 20 triple stumpers in this game but Davey is now a 2 day champion. He gets to wrap up the season as a champion. Whoever wins tomorrow will get to relax for 6 weeks and come back on September 9 to defend. Let’s see if we can end the season on a high note.
