Today’s Final Jeopardy question (6/1/2021) in the category “Around the World” was:

WHAT IS MADAGASCAR?

I found a good video called Continents We Thought Existed but you can only watch it on YouTube. It begins with the theories about Madagascar and India being part of a lost continent that zoologist Philip Schlater named Lemuria in the 1860s. Later in the same decade, a German biologist named Ernst Haeckel helped Schlater’s theory gain traction. Thereafter, the Tamil group of India connected Lemuria to Kumari Kandam, a lost continent described in ancient Tamil and Sanskrit writings. These theories were later discredited; however, in 2013, scientists have discovered some evidence that Philip Schlater was not entirely wrong. Dominic went with Galapagos. That cost him $3,500 and left him with $2,100.

Kevin got it right. He bet $6,300 and finished with $12,600.

Robin got it, too. She bet $4,001 and won the game with $12,601. Robin Lozano is the new Jeopardy! champion.

Record number of triple stumpers today? These players must have thought Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address was 352 Main Street, instead of knowing what speech ended with “of the people,” etc.

Good news, they finally updated this week’s contestants on the Jeopardy website.

So far we have had a three time winner a few months ago yet no.four time winners. I doubt robin will last that long so far given her low chances of winning a second game. Those daily doubles were easy for me since I read so many books by Toni Morrison previously in college. Good game today by the players. Also VJ, did your kids watch the pixar movie Madagascar previously?

2 days in a row where a player wins the game by a dollar. We hadn’t seen this in a while.
