WHO IS REMBRANDT?

An art exhibition as part of the festivities for the Netherland’s Queen Wilhelmina’s coronation was conceived in 1897. It was the country’s first art exhibition to be dedicated to a single Old Master, as well as the first dedicated to Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669), whom many still consider the most important figure in Dutch art history. Royal approval was granted, art historian Cornelis Hofstede de Groot set about arranging loans of some 124 paintings and over 350 drawings from all over Europe and the exhibition debuted in September 1898.

Among many other details, the Art Histories Room blog reported on who loaned what and who wouldn’t loan anything and also broke down the number of visitors to the Rembrandt exhibition.

What I know about art could fit on the head of a pin, but somehow Wilhelmina led me to Rembrandt. That was a toughie, though.

Mrs. O’Leary’s cow–who really didn’t cause the great Chicago fire on 1871–must be spinning in her grave after that missed DD.

Too many stumpers tonight. The type of pressure; actor who was Ralphie; working breed of dog; fast stream; and Hawaii pipeline were there for the taking, but certainly not softballs.

A tough FJ to be sure.

And we got a triple stumper as we got a tough final.
