Alex accepted Carl’s answer even though he gave the author’s last name as if it began with an ‘F’. When reversal time came, Carl got dinged for $2,400.

Should have been reversed: This was the second from last clue shown before the end of Double Jeopardy! in WOMEN AUTHORS ($1600). Kirstin had $9,200 when she buzzed in and answered “Their Eyes Are Watching God.” Jody got the last clue worth $2,000 right, giving her $9,400 going into Final Jeopardy! Carl had the lead with $12,800. Jody and Carl both got FJ wrong, so it probably had no effect on the outcome, as far as the winner goes. Perhaps Kirstin would have made a different bet from third place.

I added the Zora Neale Hurston clue on the second page. I saw a tweet that asked if Kirstin gave the title wrong so I watched it over again.

I didn’t notice that she didn’t get the title right when I was watching it because my own answer overlapped hers. I don’t think it affected the game outcome and I guess they’ll let her keep the $$.

I chose British national Anthem Would that have been acceptable?

    • VJ says:

I don’t see why not. I’d take it. I would take “God Save the King” too since the anthem before Queen Liliuokalani’s translated to “King” not “Queen.”

Also VJ I am betting Carl never saw the movie titanic so that’s why he did not get that second daily double. Waldorf was a bad guess

    • VJ says:

Yeah, that was a tough break for Carl there, first losing $2400 on the reversal, then $4000 on the DD. Rather amazing that Trebek didn’t catch that he said the author’s last name wrong to begin with.
