Killer Final, I said Bourbon knowing that was way too obvious.
I have a Leroy Neiman print of the Ali-Foreman fight from 1974, so I knew both the city and country (Zaire, then). There’s an excellent documentary about the buildup and fight, “When We Were Kings.”
Knew the pole vaulter, but that was a toughie. Guessed the Declaration of Rights colony. In retrospect, the “Grecian urn” clue seems easy. (Last I heard, the average Grecian “urns” about 12 drachmas an hour.) Knew the winds from when I lived in SoCal long ago.
Smart wager by Adriana, although I thought she and Neilish might bet $2401 or thereabouts. They knew Isaac more or less had to bet $9001.
Like so many ToCs, this likely will be decided by DDs and FJs.
Through some shrewd wagering in FJ, Adriana emerged from second place, and became the winner. Congratulations Adriana! Yes, that was one tough FJ, and that sure had stumped me. Still, it was a very competitive game all the way through.
And we got a triple stumper to end the week since today’s final was tough.
I didn’t remember the king’s trial but Marie Antoinette as “the widow Capet” was stuck in my brain from long-past lessons in various History classes. Again, thanks VJ for all the useful bits of information you give. They have made me a better Jeopardy player and a smarter human. You ROCK!
Thanks, Sam!
I thought Adriana would get the final clue for sure. She got the clue on the Schönbrunn Palace being the summer home of the Habsburgs and Marie Antoinette was born an Archduchess of that dynasty.
Sigh 😒
