There’s not a ToC every year. I think it was a couple years before the last one took place.
Alex saying New Orleans was “the other choice” made no sense; Louisiana hadn’t even been purchased at the time of the 1790 census. And Mackenzie’s mention of Mobile also would not have been a legit possibility in 1790. All I could come up with was Savannah.

I’m sorry that Mackenzie is the 3rd 8-Time Champion in a row to lose their 9th game, but 8 wins & over $204,000 should make her feel really good, and we’ll see her again in the Tournament Of Champions, along with Sam Kavanaugh, Jason Zuffranieri, Jennifer Quail, Karen Farrell, the College Champion, the Teachers Champion, and maybe some others, if we can get any.

    • Lou says:

Don’t forget Ryan bilger. He is also in this year’s toc as well plus veronica the librarian from Oregon. Those two are great players but didn’t have much competition previously.

      • Dal Higbee says:

        Ryan B. & Veronica both didn’t win 5 games.

      • William Weyser says:

I didn’t forget Ryan Bilger. He’s still in 1st place among the 4- Time Champions with $107,049. It’s just that we still have to wait and see if he gets lucky, and qualifies for the Tournament Of Champions, and Veronica Vichit-Vadakan? I’m not sure about her, but we’ll see.

  3. Anne says:

Good game. But I hope Alex starts to feel better. I’m worried about him.

  4. VJ says:

Well, it was bound to happen — MacKenzie would either not get any of the DDs or lose a big bet on one. I think it’s better that she didn’t get any of them, rather than lose a big bet. She had a great run and she’ll be back.

It doesn’t look to me like they’ll be able to fill up the ToC roster by November. This probably won’t happen but I wonder if they brought back a limit (say, 10 games this time around), if we could have a ToC every year.

  5. Lou says:

Allison was doing well until the final jeopardy went south on her. Mackenzie had a great run with eight wins and has now qualified for the tournament of champions. Congrats to her and Aaron on getting final right. We shall see if the new champion can build up a run like Mackenzie did. What was the other city in addition to new Orleans under the Spanish rule VJ? Speaking of that actor as Sherlock Holmes, he was also sir guy of gisbourne in robin hood 1938 did you know that?

    • VJ says:

@Lou, I knew he was in that Errol Flynn film but didn’t remember his role. I remember him more as Murdstone in “David Copperfield” beating poor little David with a cane! Also, there are various poetry readings by him on YouTube.

  6. Richard Corliss says:

Don’t let Jason Zuffranieri get in your head MacKenzie. See you later.
