  1. Rick says:

Perhaps mistakenly, I always credited Henry Hudson for discovering the Northwest Passage. Well yes, the 1847 expedition was obviously referring to an explorer that succeeded him (by more than 2 centuries no less).

  2. Howard says:

This game was mostly anti-climactic because of yesterday’s result.
FJ a toughie. “Iowa” and “1838” led me nowhere.
Stumpers also very tough, although I was blurting out the Wim Wenders clue just as Ken was announcing it.
Biliary surgery made me think of bile and the liver, but that could not have been the surgery they were seeking.
Juveria has many fans, at least in my circle. She seems so poised and calm.
I think the ToC taped this week. I vaguely remember one of the participants mentioned on FB being there for it.

    • Jason says:

I thought that the DD clue was asking for the surgery, but it was the organ. Just worded poorly (or, my reading/listening comprehension isn’t spot on perfect – perish THAT thought!).

  3. Jason says:

I should have gotten FJ, being who I am, but, I didn’t? Oh well.

The delicious before and after, I wonder if they would have given it to me. Here, we just say “chicken”!

WTG to Juveria. She is on somewhat of a juggernaut. Hope she can keep it going!

  4. Rick says:

A tough FJ today, but I’ll try my luck next week.

  5. Ismael Gomez says:

And we end the week with a triple stumper as today’s final was a tough one.

  6. Jacob Ska says:

I’m shocked this was a triple stumper fj clue. More emphasis needed on studying Native American history? The Smithsonian has a fantastic museum dedicated to such history. I’m very happy Juveria won. Well deserved. 👏🏼

  7. Kevin Cheng says:

I believe that this will be the first that two Canadians will be competing in the same Tournament of Champions in a couple of weeks. Congrats to Juveria! First she won Second Chance, then today she won the Champions Wildcard and this will be her third tournament as she will be in the TOC in a couple weeks. Juveria is currently unstoppable as her Jeopardy journey is not over yet.

  8. VJ says:

I was pretty happy to get the TS on the Northwest Passage explorer because of my love of folk songs. That is the first time I’ve ever seen them expect the players to know the man’s name.

Kudos to Michael for finishing first in this match even though he couldn’t catch up.

    • Rick says:

No, it was Henry Hudson who discovered the Northwest Passage, and that was whom I selected.

    • VJ says:

Rick, maybe you should check the clue or the facts before you tell someone they’re wrong and you’re right.

The clue is on page 2 and you could have checked it but I’m going to repeat it here so you don’t have to, all caps added for emphasis: “While SEARCHING for the Northwest Passage, this British explorer & his crew perished during an expedition in 1847”.

Henry Hudson perished when his crew mutinied and threw Henry and his son overboard. THAT WAS IN 1611 so Hudson could not have discovered the Northwest Passage if they were still looking for it in the 1840s.
