Thank goodness for this site, because the Final Jeopardy round was interrupted by the primary results from New Hampshire, about which I couldn’t care less, and by the time they got back to the show Alex Trebek was shaking hands and chatting with the contestants and I couldn’t even tell who won.

  2. Albert says:

I feel old when I know ‘Love Story’ and it turns out to be a Triple Stumper.

  3. Albert says:

Marquess of Queensberry rules was the answer yesterday. Would ‘Marquis’ be an acceptable substitution for ‘Marquess’? Just curious because I would have written Marquis.

    • VJ says:

I can’t say for certain, Albert, but I think they would accept it as something an American might not be sure how to spell or say, or alternatively, because Marquess was not really necessary to be right.

  4. rhonda says:

Kristyna’s pronunciation of Lech Walesa was actually correct, the judges made a mistake. Despite the spelling, it is supposed to be pronounced “Walensa”.
Too bad no one got the bunny clue correct!

    • VJ says:

You’re right, Rhonda. I saw this YouTube pronouncing it the same way as Kristyna did and noticed the way the “e” was written: Wałęsa

wikipedia has a page on that particular letter that includes the Polish sounds for it

We should be seeing Kristyna again.

      • rhonda says:

That’s interesting about the e, VJ, thanks for pointing it out.

        • VJ says:

You’re welcome, Rhonda. However, after checking on YouTube, it appears that she said Lech LaWensa. That’s what the judges meant by flipped syllables. (look for J! + today’s date)

Now it looks like we won’t be seeing Kristyna again

        • rhonda says:

Oh, wow, that explains it now, , thanks for the update, I will look for it, VJ!

  5. VJ says:

I got that Edgar Allan Poe “The Bells” clue. I used to know that whole poem by heart. I never had to prove it though because no one wanted to hear it. 🤣🤣🤣

There are 4 parts. I still know the silver & golden bells and maybe I could get through half of the brazen bells without looking.

Found something else I have in common with Alex Trebek today — I love that movie “Twins”, too.

  6. klm says:

If you can’t name Marconi, you don’t deserve to be on Jeopardy, let alone be a returning champion. The contestant pool seems to be getting shallower every year.

  7. JP says:

For the Polish president question, Eli Wallach entered my mind. That’s probably closer to actually flipping syllables

  8. Lou says:

At least we got a triple solve today. And congrats to danyelle on her win. We shall see if she can build up on her winnings.

  9. Richard Corliss says:

Flipped syllables? That doesn’t make sense.

  10. Richard Corliss says:

Well, I just heard that the Teachers Tournament is starting on May 4th.
