Today’s Final Jeopardy question (12/27/2018) in the category “Coastlines” was:

    I have noticed that CPAs don’t last very long on Jeopardy. Maybe they don’t have the liberal arts background (history & literature) that others have. I’m a CPA and I taught myself, after college, the liberal arts type of material needed for Jeopardy. For example, I was 33 years old before I knew the difference between a Chagall and a Renoir and a Modigliani. Now I know Art like Sister Wendy (RIP).

      And you learn something new everyday in all kind of areas. The trick is to pay attention and to try to not forget things. You never know when something might come in handy, be it professionally, in personal life etc….

    And yet another Tombstone clue, jeesh.

  3. VJ says:

    @Lou, I remember that one, too, where Lisa Schlitt had trouble with Massachusetts.

    Why does it seem like they never finish the category you like best? I wanted to see that other clue in International Entertainment?

    For some reason Kathryn is on a chair.

    • John B./I. says:

      @Richard
      Could be for all kind of reasons, an injury e.g. Or when you are starting the taping day and may have to go 3 episodes -if you win- it’s long until lunch break and it could be a permanent medical condition, who knows? Not for us to guess unless Kathryn volunteers the info I think. A medical condition is something personal, we just had the example with Jackie….it’s like in the CIA… a need to know basis😎

  5. Lou says:

    Since 2018 is ending soon, we already got two four time winners this month and I do remember how Lisa schlitt did in the geography final in one of her games and somehow won. She could feel for Jon’s loss but still he did well. Congrats to kathy on her win and to heath on getting this right. Let’s hope she can build up her win next week and get 2019 off to a good start don’t you guys agree John and VJ?

    • John B./I. says:

      @Lou
      Yeah, it’s about time to end the one day wins. Maybe she can make a good transition into 2019, she seems to have the experience and as a CPA you usually file things away, you don’t forget them completely, so we’ll see!

      • John Christian Ambion says:

        @John B./I. Indeed. I hope Kathryn can stop the “one-day win” curse before the end of the year. Also, Jon wrote incorrect because it is incomplete, so writing within the 30-second limit is important and would’ve made a Triple Solver, but in this case, it didn’t.

        • John B./I. says:

          @JCA
          One more second would have done it, he obviously knew it. But even if he had gotten it in he would have been short since
          1.. Kathryn and Heath got it right and
          2. his bet was too small unless he would have been the only one right and K and H had lost big wagers. So we are still waiting for a repeat.

  6. John B./I. says:

    2018 is coming to an end and with today the last chance of an at least 4 day winning streak disappeared. Heath’s miss on the DD probably cost him the game, his wager at FJ would have been different had he 4K more… Tough break for Jon. Ironically, PE is the international designation on cars for Peru, like A for Austria, D for Germany etc…
    J! might as well change the intro music to “One Day Tripper”…a lot of “Flu”kes going around since Jackie.☹ Win 1, lose the next.
    But CONGRATULATIONS to KATHRYN. Being a little more mature has its advantages, you have learned more and if you were/are able to retain your experience and knowledge…maybe she can start something, going into next year? Being a “mature” person myself – to put it mildly – I am kind of rooting for her.
