WHAT IS CANBERRA?

Thomas, 3rd Baron Denman, was appointed Governor-General of Australia in 1911. Moving the national capital from Melbourne to Australian Capital Territory was already in the planning stages. The move would not officially take place until 1927. On March 12, 1913, however, a ceremony was held to reveal Canberra as the name chosen for the future capital. The honor of deciding how to pronounce it fell to the Governor General’s popular wife, Lady Denman. She pronounced it CAN-bra, which has become the standard pronunciation in Australia. Learn more

Today, Canberra Day is a public holiday in the Australian Capital and Jervis Bay Territories. Australian states and territories also have capital cities.     421K is a lot of money and I can see that she has surpassed Austin Rogers in winnings but not quite close to julia collins yet. Amy might just go for Julia’s record win as well before moving towards Jason’s 500K total.
