WHAT IS “THE SCREAM”?

According to the National Museum of Norway, “could only have been painted by a madman!” was penciled over the painted sky in the original 1893 painting of Edvard Munch’s “The Scream”, but went unnoticed until 1904. A Danish art critic attributed the scrawl to a hater taking a strong dislike to the painting to the extent of vandalizing it.

A deeper look into the “madman” notation was never taken until recently. The National Museum of Norway’s Edvard Munch collection is one of the much-anticipated highlights of the revamped museum’s reopening, now scheduled for 6/11/2022 and “The Scream” is one of several works to undergo closer inspection. An infrared camera was used to make the writing clearly stand out from the painted sky. The handwriting was compared extensively with Edvard Munch’s and it was conclusively determined that the artist wrote the phrase himself.

Julian didn’t have a response. He bet and lost it all.

Tony got it right. He bet $8,000 and that brought him up to $16,200.

Tyler thought it was “The Garden of Earthly Delights”. He lost his $3,000 bet and finished with $10,600. That made Tony Freitas the new Jeopardy! champion. Congrats, Tony!

Well Tyler had a good 5 game run with 100K so he is now in the toc. Speaking of The Scream, this reminded me of that ride with the same name at Six Flags New England.. There was also a roller coaster with that Scream name as well. I am happy to know that Tony got final.

Today was the first game since July 9 where the leader going into Final Jeopardy! did not win. This ends a streak of 62 consecutive games. The record is 83 regular-play games, from May 20 through November 29, 2004.
