Two very worthy challengers, capable of winning this ToC, but no match for Scott and his DDs.
I did poorly in round 1 but nailed the easy DD. Did better in the 2nd, got the Rousseau DD. Very surprised no one knew hhmunro’s pseudonym–that’s the poet who wrote in only lower case, no? I said Marie Antoinette for Final even though I knew that was way too obvious.
I was 2/3 on DD and missed FJ. Like the players, I said Marie Antoinette, but, after that was wrong, I did come up with Charlotte Corday. I recall the picture I saw of the casting that Mme Tussaud herself made of Marat. Either bummer, or way cool, to be stabbed in the bathtub!
I truly doubt that the French would have dared to execute Marie Antoinette if her father was alive. He was the Holy Roman Emperor, Francis I. Or, if her mother was alive for that matter– she was the ruler of the Hapsburg dynasty.
Unlucky matchup for Tom. His score could be good enough to run away with it on other days not vice versa.
Another triple stumper this week since today’s final was also tough.
That’s why the year makes it more difficult, especially in European history.
It looked like this was going to be a battle between Scott and Tom until Scott blew the game wide open by finding back to back daily doubles and getting them both correct and putting the game away. Scott also set the record for the highest score going into Final this season which is 41,200.
That shows you why Scott Riccardi is the Heavy Favorite in this tournament.
