WHAT IS CANADA?
Devon Island is one of the Queen Elizabeth Islands, located in the northern part of the Arctic Archipelago, Northwest Territories and Nunavut and the largest uninhabited one. The islands are divided into: Ellesmere Island (largest with a small population), the Parry group (which includes Devon), and the Sverdrup group. British explorer Sir William Parry explored many of the islands in 1819-20. They were called the Parry Islands until named after Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.
How then did the islands become possessions of Canada? Near as I can figure out, they were formally transferred to Canada by an Imperial Order in Council that became effective on 9/1/1880. See wikipedia’s Arctic Archipelago article for a good overview of the region.
Alissa thought it was the U.K. She lost her $7,500 bet and finished with $3,100.
Marlan got it right. He bet it all and finished with $30,000.
Veronica got it, too. She bet $12,801 and won the game with $30,001. Her 2-day total is $52,000.
Reversal: LET’S GET MARRIED ($800) In England this rhyme about wedding attire ends with “and a silver sixpence in your shoe” — Alex rejected Marlan’s “something borrowed, something blue” response and accepted “something old, something new” from Veronica. The judges gave Marlan a thumbs up on that and he was awarded $1,600. Here’s a link to a post on weddingwindows.com about the tradition. Marlan’s response seems to be the most common but there are versions with Veronica’s response online as well so she was not penalized.
2 triple stumpers from the last round:
ALL STARS ($1200) One of the closest stars to the Sun, Barnard’s Star can’t be seen with the naked eye; it’s in this colorful class of small, dim stars
FOREIGN-BORN OSCAR WINNERS ($1600) Though born in Sweden, she won an Oscar for her supporting role in 2015’s “The Danish Girl”
2 years ago: TWO of the players got this FJ in “Novels of the 1960s”
The line “Once when you are born & once when you look death in the face” follows this title of a 1964 novel & an action-packed 1967 film. show

Okay, Richard and Trevor, I put the reversal in. Thanks.
There was a reversal on the $800 clue in Let’s Get Married! when Marlan said “Something Borrowed, Something Blue.”
Wish you the very best prays are with you
Yesterday this was the first time the contestants didn’t bounce on the board.
Marlan made veronica work for that victory and she came through after that near lock game. Congrats to her and to marlan on getting the final right. I do think the United Kingdom was a random guess on Alyssa s part VJ. But this was quite a Match, wouldn’t you agree?
Yes, Lou, that was quite a competition there!!
As I pointed out in the recap, the island was originally a British possession so that wasn’t a far off response by any means.
VJ you forgot the reversal.
