I thought Ken did a great job. His tone and cadence was very Alex-like, to me, and he made the first episode without Alex feel less strange than it might have with, oh, say Katie Couric. Please, powers-that-be at JEOPARDY!, forget the guest-host idea, and make Ken the official host .

  2. Donna says:

Ken was much to fast in his reading of the clues. The pace overall was too fast. I wish he had a deeper voice.

  3. Ann says:

Ken Jennings was not impressive as a Jeopardy Host. He was very full and unassuming.

  4. Jerry says:

Sharpen up Ken’s voice. It’s a bit too ‘soft’ sounding, needs to be punched up a little. Ken did a great job. Once the crew gets their part down, he’s a home run.

I just watched Ken’s intro thanks to JWD who posted the link.
Seems to me Ken was trying to hold back tears. Very moving!

  6. Rick says:

I thought that Ken Jennings was superb, and should remain as the new host of the Jeopardy game.

  7. Jeopardy! lover says:

I was proud of Ken Jennings and I hope he is next host. So great!!! 😆 😃

pu LEEZE! It was no accident that one of the ‘answers’ this night was ‘All About Eve’ Ken Jennings is an unctuous jerk.

  8. Kevin says:

I just finished watching this episode just now in EST. How is it you had this posted with all the results before the final jeopardy round was even over?

Thought Ken did a good job and owned it by the end. Maybe it’s nitpicking, but I was surprised they accepted “The Lady and the Tramp.” “Lady” was the dog’s name, so the correct title is “Lady and the Tramp.”

    • VJ says:

@hugh, they generally do not penalize the players for putting in or omitting an article like “the” at the start of a title.

If a player was to put the wrong article inside the title (e.g., Lady and a Tramp), it’s a different story

      • Albert says:

You are correct. I noticed the same thing over the years.

      • JP says:

The exception to the rule is that, when adding or subtracting a leading article, the answer you give may not be the name of another popular work (of art, literature, film, etc.)

The typical example is Ralph Ellison’s “Invisible Man” vs. “The Invisible Man”. If you added ‘The’ to the former title or removed ‘The’ from the latter title, you would be ruled incorrect.

      • hugh maxwell says:

        “Not the Old Yeller!!??” 🙂

      • hugh maxwell says:

Or The Lady Gaga. Alright I’m done.

  10. stuart dillon says:

Ken is perfect. No need to slide in others. Intelligent with sense of humor and quick with quips. Great smile and tv presence.

  11. Debbie LaRock says:

Ken is one of the smartest men I know on tv. I believe he is the best man in replacing Alex (.may he rest in peace) next person in line would have been Brook Burns. She is a very smart woman. Thank you for keeping Jeopardy and Alex alive

    • DC says:

Well, while I’m hoping Ken doesn’t become the permanent host, I have to give him his due and say that was a perfect start.
He was particularly good in the chat with the contestants which is harder than it looks.

  12. Lou says:

I think Ken will definitely do great.guest hosting for jeopardy. It’s too bad that tanay never saw Awakenings. That was a great film. Still congrats to our new champion as he could definitely get a streak running with his playing style. Speaking of viva las vegas, that theme song was used in Father of the Pride on abc. Do you remember it, VJ?

  13. VJ says:

Funny that they just had a Hit Songs of the 1960s category last Friday. I remember I was grumbling to myself about them leaving Elvis out of their song selections — that was January 8th, the 86th anniversary of Presley’s birth.

Here’s a funny old clue from 2003: MISHEARD LYRICS ($1000) From a 1964 Elvis movie: “People Love Bagels”

  14. Kevin Cheng says:

Today is the first of Ken Jennings as guest host. What was the intro like VJ?
