Fernando Rodney Celebrates Too Soon
Seattle Mariners closer Fernando Rodney has a little routine where he shoots imaginary arrows after closing out a game. Like most closers, he usually just pitches In the ninth or last inning of game, but occasionally has to come in a little earlier than that. Such was the case in the Mariners game against the Los Angeles Angels on July 20th. With the bullpen seeing a lot of work, Rodney came into the game in the eighth inning. After getting the final out in the eighth, Rodney did his shooting the arrow thing.

Grant Green ended it with a bases loaded single in the ninth to win the game:
Amazingly, no one had a snit fit over “disrespect” or “unwritten rules”. The Angels handled this type thing the way it should be handled, and went out and won the game.

Funny to be sure, but not nearly as bad as Desean Jackson for the early celebration, or as bad of an example of counting as Trot Nixon throwing a ball to a kid in the stands with two outs.
