Colorado Sweeps Nashville to Advance to the Second Round in Stanley Cup Playoffs
The Colorado Avalanche scored three times in the third period for a 5-3 come from behind victory over the Nashville Predators May 9th in their first round Stanley Cup playoff series. With the victory, the Avalanche swept the Predators in four games, becoming the first team to advance to the second round.
Andre Burakovsky and Cale Makar led the way for Colorado, each with a goal and two assists. Makar, a defenseman, led the team in scoring in the series, with three goals and seven assists. Makar led all defensemen in goals during the NHL regular season with 28, and was second in total points (86) to Nashville’s Roman Josi (95). Josi had one goal and one assist in the four game series.
The Avalanche were 56-19-7, 119 points during the regular season, which was the best record in the Western Conference, and second best in the NHL, behind the Florida Panthers (122 points). Colorado awaits the winner of the Minnesota-St. Louis series, tied at 2-2.
